He has been champion of Spain under 10, under 12, under 14 and under 16, and has been part of the Spanish team of young talents on numerous occasions.
He has played in World and European Championships, being close to the medals several times. The last was the European under 18 in 2014, where he finished 4th after leading the competition.
He becomes International Master in 2016 and he gets a Grandmaster norm in the International Tournament of Granada, where he shared the first place. He is the second player from León to dispute the Magistral, 18 years after Marcelino Sión did. He won the open classics of Seville and San Sebastian.
He made his debut in the XXIX edition of the Magistral 2016 and had a stiff fight with the three-time champion of the tournament, the Chinese Wei Yi, who managed to defeat him by the minimum after a tough match. In 2017 he tied his match against the arch-champion Vishy Anand (defeating him in the second game) and finally losing in the tiebreaker. In the last edition he tied his match against the Spanish number 1 Paco Vallejo losing in the tiebreaker. 2018 was the year in which he obtained his title of International Grandmaster. In 2020 he reached the final of the Magistral, which he lost by the minimum with GM Leinier Dominguez and at the end of 2020 he was proclaimed sub-champion of Spain tied with GM David Antón. At the end of the year he surpassed the barrier of 2,500 elo points.
