Rapport obtained the title of Master in 2008, and was International Master the following year, at the age of 13.

In March 2010, at the Gotth'Art Kupa in Szentgotthárd, he achieved the last norm for the title of Grand Master being only 15 years of age.

In May 2013, Rapport won the first place in the Sigeman & Co. chess tournament, along with former world runner-up Nigel Short winning the tiebreaker. The final result was: 4½ / 7 (+ 3-1 = 3).

In December Rapport won the European Championship of rapid chess and also finished first in the European Championship of Blitz chess. He is the best player of Hungary along with Peter Leko. At present, world number 1 in the sub 20 category and has become, despite his youth, the number 40Th of the world absolute ranking. He participates for the first time in the Magistral de León. He began 2017 by defeating the world champion Magnus Carlsen in TATA STEEL, Holland.
